Torquing head bolts on Force 35

In trying to find the cause of low compression in the lower cylinder of my Force 35, I decided just to check the torque on the head bolts. Problem is, the lower three or four head bolts are lower than the lip of the support plate. There is no room in there to fit a torque wrench and socket. Anyone else ever encountered this? What to do? I know getting the proper torque is pretty critical, so I don't want to just tighten them by intuition with a regular old crescent wrench. BTW, re. my earlier postings, I still can't get the thing to shut down when I turn off the ignition switch. Checked all the wiring with an ohmmeter and everything seems to check out. I'm stumped.

Chances are there isn't a difference and its not the solution. Pull the plug an give it a spray of carb-carbon cleaner 15 minutes before you go boating. Your psi will rise!
