Hey all,

Next problem that has been causing me issues. So when i crank the engine the starter turns the fly wheel slow like a dead battery. Things i have tried so far.

1. replaced the starter
2. replaced the cables from the battery to the motor
3. Replaced the ground wire from ground to solenoid
4. replace hot wire from hot side solenoid to the terminal strip
5. replaced the cable from solenoid to starter
6. replaced solenoid
7. used fully charged battery
8. without the plugs it cranks like a champ.

So any advice would be fantastic.

Thank you in advance
Bob

Sounds like low compression on 1 or more cyl.
Do a comp test.
That test OK??

Then remove the lower unit and try .
Sometimes the bearings seize and cause the hard turning over,

Compression test complete all 4 cyl. ar from 90 to 91 psi. So that tested out good. I still can't explain the slow crank. It barley turns over.

Try the comp test with another gauge.
The comp should be closer to 145-150

You sure the battery's good?
Any auto store can tell if the battery's good??
I have a load tester(25$ Harbor Freight)
I use it at least 1-2 times a week, great tool to have.

The "new" starter??
They sell some really crappy units from China.
Make sure it's good.

You try dropping the lower unit?

Ok, So good news is I figured out the problem. I didn't have the correct Gage battery cables. i replaced what was there with 6 gage. Now it cranks over like a champ.
New issues arose today. couldn't get it to fire, so I started checking the distributor and found that with the key in the run position I have no battery voltage on the blue wire on the dist. So that would be my issue, but I don't know exactly how to trouble shoot that issue. I traced the wire back to terminal strip and there is no voltage at the terminal strip for the blue wire, there is power on the terminal for the battery red wire.

Any Idea as to what the issue may be?

Thank you
Bob

What size battery cable did you have?
They usually come with 4 or less.

If the terminal doesn't have power and it should? ( I don't know)
Then I'd guess the switch isn't working properly?
Try some WD-40 in the switch?

I had 10 or 8 Gage then I just looked at what I put on and they are 4 gage. I was suspect of the switch as well. I will try that
