Blue cd box with black coils?

Just acquired a 87 125hp, they had one black cd box and one blue cd box with 4 black coils. Am I going to have a problem running a blue cd box with black coils?

You should be able to run with both a black and blue CDI box.
From my experience the black box had a plug connection and the blue has connections at a terminal board.

I've heard they would work and then I heard that you shouldn't use???

Sorry read the post a little bit to fast, did not notice you wrote black coils and blue CD box.
Well jerryjerry has given you the answer I also should have given.

I think you can mix both black coils and blue and also black and blue CD boxes.
