I got the older evinrude 70 to use while I get lower unit fixed on the force 85 and the first thing I noticed was how quiet the evinrude is. I noticed the foam inside the motor cover on the one motor and the force has nothing but looks like it use to. Since its no longer available I would like to know what I should use as a replacement and I was thinking those cheap foil covered windshield shades glued inside but wondered if there is something way better? Anybody ever replace that stuff ? Thanks for any and all help

The foam that was in there was an inferior product and installed bad on top of it being crap.
The foam was probably responsible for a lot of engine failures.
Pieces would fall off and get into the carbs and end up blowing a piston.

Scotts suggestion or Google : outboard sound deadening
Stay away from foam and make sure the carb covers are in place.
No covers on a 50 :(
