The forward two gromets that fasten the lower pan to power head are worn and the lower cowl (pan) is loose as a result. Is it necessary to pull the powerhead to replace these gromets. ??
25-825380 is the part number of the gromets i am referring to

Interesting question. They go on the adapter plate http://www.marineengine.com/parts/f...e203000-thru-0e287999-usa/adapter-plate-upper

From the diagram it looks like the lower cowl can be loosened without removing the power head. If so installing the grommets from the bottom might be possible. If you can remove the trim cover, http://www.marineengine.com/parts/f...0e203000-thru-0e287999-usa/driveshaft-housing everything should be accessible.

As always, working on the front of the motor is easier with it removed from the boat. It weighs ~310lbs, so be careful when lifting it. To do that easily get the lifting ring, available on that selling site, to screw into the flywheel.

blackd neither of the links work.
They won't let you access their competitions pages :(

kwalker welcome to the site.
You can post pics after 3 or 5 posts.
Or use a photo sharing site like Shutterfly.

You should be able to loosen the cowl enough to get the new parts in.

Jerry, for some reason links get truncated and destroyed on Linux. The links are from Marine Enginedotcom the Force section. Mine is bookmarked for the 1997 model. I've tried several long and short versions and they still get modified.
