1994 Force 150 Wiring Help

Hi,
I was looking under the hood and found that I have a wire that is just hanging loose. Are these two wires supposed to be hooked together? Take a look at the picture and let me know your thoughts!!! I'm afraid to just hook them up together....maybe they're not supposed to be??

Does your tach work?

That wire typically sends a signal to your tach.

No! The tach hasn't worked in years! So if I hook those back up, maybe that will fix that issue? I always thought the tach itself was shot.

The gray wire from the rectifier is the signal source for the tach. Yes, you can connect those two gray wires together and possibly make your tach work again.

Yup, that did it. Tach works! Can't believe it was that simple of a fix! Thanks for your help!
