Spits out??
A bit more info??
Does it have a pee tube installed?
Thermostat still in the system?
How old is the impeller?

Test the overheat system?
Key on ground the orange lead at the motor, should make the buzzer sound off.

That was normal for my boat if you are refering to the two holes. Change the inpeller if it older than 2 years old.

Water (back) pressure at the exhaust is less under way to allow the exhaust to exit easier. Not so much at idle.

Absolutely normal because of the back pressure created by not moving forward and the main purpose of the two nostrils on the motor leg.
