Can I do this, What color wires to what poles? Can I run the choke off another off/on or push-button switch, and what color wires to that switch? I used to work on outboards but most were pre 1960's so I am a lot lost here, Can anyone help please?

Probably not. Yes you can run the choke off of a separate switch but the ignition switch has a series of normally open and normally closed contacts so you would have to match that up. Plus it needs to have one set of contacts that are only momentarily engaged when in the start position. Otherwise the starter will just stay engaged unless you manually move the switch. Kind of inconvenient and if someone who is not familiar with what has been modified tries to operate the ignition, they may damage the starter.

Not gonna work.
The green is the choke.
You'll need to get another key switch.
