I have a 9.9 Force on my 1988 Grumman fishing boat. I believe the motor is the original that came with the boat. The ID tag is gone. I have attached pics to help. Can someone let me know what model this is?

Also I have read that you can put a 15hp carb on these motors to get more top end speed. Is it as strait forward as a carb swap or is there more to it? i.e. Prop change?

That is a 1988 Force 9.9, The short shaft model is 92F8B. The Long shaft model is 93F8B. That looks like a short shaft model that had an extension added to it.

He's right about the year 88
That's the color for 88s.
The extension was probably from the factory.
It came in 15 and 20 inch.

Looks pretty clean!!

Awesome thank you both.

Any thoughts on where I can find a 15hp carb for this? Will it add more top end speed? Any info on the 15hp carb model number would be?

The parts diagrams have a bunch of stuff listed????
The first thing I see is the 88 9.9 and 15 used the same carb???
No difference in jets?
Then digging farther: F682061 2 is for a 15 and they used F714061 for a 9.9
There is a guy in Prudenville, Mi. at Valley Sales.
He maybe can tell you what you need and might even have one?
