I have an issue with trolling for fish and my 85 hp force fouls plugs if i run at idle too long. Mechanic told me to use Yamaha ring free. Will this product do what it says or will i still have fouling issues still? Motor starts every time and idles fine. No power loss. I get a steady 35-36mph wot on a 17ft fiberglass.

Most outboards were not made to run slow.
Before TCW-3 the oil would carbon up so bad the rings would seize and cause damage.
The Yam product is about the same as Mercuyr's Power Tune oand OMC's product.

Yes use it and follow the directions.
One thing I do is after the initial treatment, I remove the plugs and tilt the motor up.
Put a bit in each cyl. and let it set for a couple days.

Seafoam says it does the same thing ??? I didn't see any benefit when I experimented with it,

Ring free isn't going to solve your loading up problem.

A two stroke in good working condition may load up after long hours on the troll but you shouldn't be fouling plugs.

When was the last time the motor was tuned up? Plugs changed, carbs adjusted, timing and thermostats checked?

Have you tried changing oil? Some definitely troll better / cleaner than others.

I bought my 1988 Bayliner in 1988
It came with twin 85hp.

It NEVER like to troll for long periods??

It was back when the oil had too much ash and would carbon up QUICK.

I lived in Pasadena, Md. and slow trolling was done a LOT/
It was 3-4 mo.old and the port motor didn't want to start one day.
I pulled the hard off and the top of the pistons were carboned bad.

Ended up getting both re-ringed and shortly after that the oil improved and the fouling stopped.

IF?? you troll a lot the carbon will continue no matter how the carbs are set.
The perma gap plugs are easy to clean.

Amzoil is supposed to cut the carbon and smoke way down, but expensive.
