Hey guys, My 1982 50 HP evinrude just bit the dust and so I am looking at replacing the motor for my 1986 Mckee Craft Angler (14 ft). From what I can find it looks like the maximum HP rating for that boat is 70 hp. I have found a 1980 Chrysler 70 hp outboard in very good condition and am trying to determine the weight of the motor. Can't find it anywhere! In fact I am having trouble finding much of anything about the 70 hp 1980 chrysler motor. So what I am looking for is 1. Weight of motor? 2. Anybody have any thoughts on this particular motor good or bad?

I'd guess somewhere in the neighborhood of 250lbs. They were decent simple motors but parts and service support is only getting worse since they've been obsolete for so long.

As ezmobee says they were decent and simple motors not better and not worse then Mercury, OMC and others for that age.
Maybe a little more hard on fuel but much easier to work with.

The 70Hp (longsghaft) weight about 224 lbs (101,6 kg).
