With your help I was able to get the drain plugs free without any damage. One of the washers is shot and needs to be replaced. Are these washers specific to the chrysler force 15 hp or is there a type commonly available at the marina? 1986 Force 15

They are somewhat specific, so you might get lucky and find the correct size at your local marina.

You can order them on-line for about a dollar a piece.

You can also take one of the old washers and go down to your local Ace Hardware, Home Depot, Lowes etc and and get a nylon washer that is the right size.

The washer for any outboard or outdrive with a 3/8" plug should work. Actually the fiber ones seam to do a better job.

When you asked on the first post I gave you the info on the washers.
My opinion!!! The original crush washers were plastic.
Any plastic washer is JUNK and can't be trusted.
Use the fiber ones I gave you the parts #s to.

OMC/ Cobra outdrive: the first years they used a soft plastic washer on the dip stick. GREAT!!
Then they stared using hard plastic and they were very hard to make them seal.
They were responsible for many outdrives going bad because of water intrusion.
I worked on probably a 1000 or more of them and found the plastic was a problem.
