I have the below pictured fuel line connector already connected to my 1986 Force 15. Should I wait and order the matching female connector or is it ok to remove it and put a different type in that is more common and newer? Any suggestions would be appreciated npt connector.jpg

If it were me, I would buy the more common connector....think they sell the Atwood connector at WAL-ly-world. I had one of those on the the side of my Johnson 90hp. I just took that one off and put a barbed fitting with some hose clamps. Never saw myself removing that heavy beast on a frequent basis, so no real need for a quick disconnect.

Thanks for the info guys. I was able to find the female chrysler/force female connector at my local bass pro.

Both ends need lubrication when not hooked up.
A quick shot of spray White Lithium grease does the trick.

There is 2 o-rings in the female that dry rots after time.

I purchased the force connector at Bass Pro and it will not seat properly. It seems like it needs to go an 1/8 of an inch further on but cannot. Has anyone had experience with the cheap after market connector not seating properly?
