I have a "regular" 1971 chrysler 20hp outboard. I need some missing parts and found a 1971 Chrysler 20hp autoelectric cheap. I am wondering if there is much difference between the two and if most of the parts are interchangeable. Mainly linkages, ignition parts-coils, etc.. Do they have the same powerhead?

The regular 20Hp and autoelectric 20Hp are similar in most parts BUT the autoelectric has a dynastarter mounted on the flywheel.
The dynastarter is driven by the crank and that is the different between them. The autoelectric has another crank that is longer.

Coils, condensers, points are the same and everything else except for the electric starting system are interchangeable.
