You are correct I spoke to CDI's tech department he explained that the red wire has a space holder in it which I located. The stator was the Mercury red one which has that conversion pack. I removed the pack and hooked it to the switch box.

Today was a big day! I got the engine to start up!!! I want to replace the flywheel as it looks a bit twisted to me. I also want to clean up all the connections and adjust the shifting before I put water to it and do a real test. I hope to splash on Friday!

Twisted???
You sure it's on straight?
They can be installed crooked and still run.

I installed a new flywheel since the metal was twisted a bit. I used a hammer to remove it the first time in the wrong direction. Also was missing a few magnets.

The boat will start in choke (throttle pulled out and all the way forward ) sometimes. It will run for maybe 20 seconds then slowly fade out. Other times it will shake and putter but not start. Any advice what I can do?

I put new fuel, I cleaned the carb, I put sea foam in the new gas.

Running 20 seconds: bad fuel pump?
Sucking air somewhere?
Seafoam isn't a petroleum based product.
Can affect running/ sarting.

It is very possible since I rebuilt the fuel pump perhaps I didnt do it correctly. Is there anyway if I remove it to test it?

Just take it apart and check the diaphragm.
What style pump? pic?

Last night I noticed fuel coming from the gasket in the fuel pump. I took it apart checked the diaphragm and gasket which were intact. I added gasket maker and put it back together. Tonight I hope to get over to the boat and test it with the gasket maker set-up.

Got to test the boat today ... fuel pump is sealed and the boat started right up but only ran for 20 seconds (video 1). Each start same thing. A buddy of mine is a mechanic by the time he came over it wouldnt start at all (video 2). Oddly it started when we lifted the motor out of the water? Even the mechanic is at a loss?

I did some more testing.

Tested spark there was plenty.
Took off carb and sprayed it out looked pretty clean.
Checked vent on gas can, its clear.
Looked at diaphragm in fuel pump still in tact.

Thinking maybe I need to buy a new fuel pump? Try and rebuild it again?

I have also noticed when the trying to start the carb is spitting gas out. From what I have read on here it could be bad reeds. I will look to replace them.

Test the pump before you buy.
Key off.
Pump the ball.
Remove the plugs.
Unhook the outlet hose from the pump.
Run another piece of hose into a clear jar.
Jump the solenoid and watch and see if fuel comes out.

I followed your instructions and the pump was pumping fuel. Does that mean it must be a carb issue?

Try setting the idle up.
Turn the air screw out 2-3 turns maybe 4?(sometimes this works)
When it starts(if) spray starting fluid around the base of the carb and the side where the fuel pump is located.(sucking air).
Pinch off the primer hose(after initial prime) it can feed fuel to the carb and flood it out.
