1992 Force 120hp Stator Issues

I have a 1992 Force 120hp that I recently replaced the stator due to a no spark issue. However, after I installed the new stator it started up just 3 times before the new stator blew. Any ideas on what could be causing these stators to blow? I ran all kinds of checks before determining it was the stator when I first found the no spark issue. I'm afraid I might be missing something, as I am a novice with outboard engines.

if you got a new CDI stator it should be covered under warranty. Not sure where you got it from but check out www.outboardignition.com for the PDF's that help diagnose - you might have been using this site already.

are you getting no resistance again on the stator ?

Who'd you buy from?
Most aftermarket are CDI
Contact them and ask there.
They can answer most questions.

​They can short or blow from a bad ground somewhere in the system or a bad connection.
