Long shaft conversion

I have an opportunity to buy a 1979 45 hp Chrysler long shaft, can I use the lower end of my 79 30hp to convert to a short shaft. Thanks for any input

No the driveshafts has different diameters. The 45Hp have a lager then the 30Hp and the gear ratio is different too.
