Will Mothballs or What keep rats/rodents out of my stored boat? 03-06 we did not fish due to a drought and rats damaged life jackets and made messes. I tried to rat proof my Boat?s Storage Box. Today I noticed they got in, damaged life jackets and left their filth. I left too much clearance where rod?s Tips extended out of the storage (very little).

I should have pulled the tarp and aired the boat more and spotted the droppings (from this past winter).

Traps. Beyond that, you can try mothballs, they work for about a month. Irish spring shaved into paper bowls will also keep spiders out

Traps and a good commercial rat poison.
Call Orkin
Peanut butter is a real killer(in a trap)
Or a live trap. Then you have to drown the buggers :(

Get a small container and put ammonia in it; cover the boat. Nothing will stay inside long. You won't either.
