Hello

I am trying to put together new trim motor and pump kit. I can' t get them correctly aligned as when I tighten the screws the motor stops turning, when I loosen the screws motor turns but does not pump oil. Are there any tricks how to install the pump kit?

There is a tang on the end of the motor shaft that goes into the pump. Inside the pump, there is a gear with a slot or rectangular hole cut into it to accept the tag. If you don't get the two lined up properly, the tang will not slip into the slot and the shaft will bind up as you tighten the screws down.

Ok, thank you! Will try to get it right, but find it strange that design has so little margin for error.

It may also be the manufacturer's tolerance on one of the components (shaft or gear) is a just a tad off causing a tighter than normal fit. You can usually tell if everything is lined up properly. The two halves of the tilt/trim assy. go together flush without having to force anything, or tighten the screws.
