It's a good engine if it was maintained. We have 2 force engines and they have been used a lot.

We have a 1988 Bay liner trophy 19 CC with a 125 hp force . It's absolutely perfect.
We drove 16 hours round trip to get this boat for $ 2500.00 wait for it, on CL, kicker, fish finder, anchor, new Bimini top that's it.,
Force engines are old, They run just like any other two stroke outboard , 1in5 bolts snap off when you work on them and you have to drill them out.and tap them.when you work on them.
This forum will help you with any and all problems no worries...
Boats are effort and maintance, and 100.00 bills, are you up for the challenge.

The Force 1997 is mostly Mercury.
Mercury Trim/Tilt.
Mercury ignition.
Mercury lower unit.
The block is still Force but the Force is a good block.

The older Force/Chrysler Pre 94 were good too.
I have a pair of 88/85's.Both run like new.

The older the motor the harder it is to work on them,

I wouldn't hesitate to buy a Force(but I like em)
Easy and straightforward to work on.
