I have looked but came up blank, I cant event find a part number to search....I need an ignition harness for the above. Hoping someone can help!

The info on the plate reads:
"1996 40 ELPT"
"OE180600" I can't completely make this number out from the pictures I took, so it might be "OE160xxx"...either way it falls in the same range on this website:
http://www.**********/parts/search/Me...999/parts.html

Unless I am missing it, I can't find the ignition harness...

This motor was a last minute throw in when I was buying some other boat items. It cost me $25, but the upper adapter plate was broken in several places, luckily, all the pieces were there. These plates are expensive, if you can even find them. So, I had one of our shop welders take it (along with the lower plate for bolt spacing) work his magic on it. He pulled it off and I reassembled the motor I have controls that came with it, but no ignition harness. Considering I don't have much in this motor, I am willing to spend a little on the harness, but I am also hoping I can find one relatively cheap, because I have a feeling this motor isn't long for this world...but I still want to play with it!

Any help, would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there, looks like serial number 0E180600 is the right number as the engine comes up as an FORCE FORCE 40 ELPT FORCE - ( 40 H.P. (1996) Serial No: 0E180600 Model No: H040412SD Parts Catalog No: 90-809729

Either item number 11 or 17 may be what you're looking for. http://www.mercruiserparts.com/Show_...CAL+COMPONENTS

Some more part catalog options for you,

Or are you looking for an ignition key harness between the engine and boat helm?

Once you find your part number, be sure to run the part number through eBay and online for the best deals available.

Good luck.

Oh and Yes, I cleaned up a word above for you.;)..Thanks.

Yes, I'm looking for the harness from the helm to engine....push to choke keyed ignition harness. It looks like an 8 pin harness would work, but from what I gather this motor, while "by Mercury" is still mostly a Chrystler(?) design and I cant find information on the harness. Maybe it is a standard mercury item?

I'm unfamiliar with Mercury outboards in general, and these force motors add a twist for me...except for this motor, I have been sticking to OMC.

Thanks!

p.s. thanks for the clean up :)

From 95 on the Force used Mercury controls and wiring.
The block is about the only thing that's Force.
