Can u take the lower cowl or engine pan off with out removing the power head

How about a couple of photos? Your statements do seem to generate a bit of questions in my mind. A 20 inch transom with a 25 inch engine is going to have poor performance. That is, unless the engine is jacked up on a jack plate or the transom has been raised. So again, a couple of good photos of the engine and midleg, and the transom with a ruler showing would help.

What I found was that the engine tray or lower cowl for a lack of a better word has the same bolt pattern, so my plan is to paint my whiter force mud and lower section black, and use my black force tray and cowl, mates up perfect.

The lower cowl can be removed without removing the engine block BUT it is tiresome. You must remove the starter and the carbs. you must also remove the fuel pump. Then you need to wiggle and tilt it until it clears the flywheel. You simply can not lift it straight up.

Yes I have learned all of this the hard way but I needed to clean the cabs and fuel pump anyway
