Hi all,
1983 3.5 HP Chrysler. Carb was recently cleaned. The motor starts fine with the choke on. As soon as you move the lever to disengage the choke, she dies.
Does this motor have an air mixture/adjustment screw? I've looked online and on the carb. with no luck. Anybody with a similar motor/problem solve this (and how).... :)

Edit: there is an idle adjustment screw but doubt that will solve my issue.

My apologies as I have little experience with carbs & outboards all-together...

First things first fiskala, :welcome: to iboats...

Any time you have to keep the choke engaged to keep the engine running, it is the carb. The carb has some blocked passages that are not allowing enough gas in and that is the reason you have to restrict the air to keep it running. So regardless when the carb was worked, you still have carb issue... JMHO!

Agreed. Card blockage or badly adjusted. Try the idle adjust screw. 1 1/2 turns out from lightly seated to start with.

Does that help?

thanks guys! I will try both... Didn't want to take the damn thing apart (again) but something is obviously restricting fuel in there.
Very Much Appreciated! I will report back with results.
