What are you testing it with because a motor runs about 140 which means 10 times hotter is 1400 deg. Get a temp gun flywheels can get hot how much hotter you need to be more specific. I have a 1986 70 hp evinrude after i run it if i lay a forearm across the flywheel it will burn me.

No not normal.
Sounds like it's rubbing somewhere.
Look up under and see if the magnets loose or rubbing.
The magnets a long thin strip that is glued inside the flywheel.
I never tried touching it after it's ran but if it's spinning it shouldn't get hot as the air should cool it.

i looked everywhere for the rubbing i cant really see anything rubbing.

i did tighten the flywheel nut with my impact to make sure it does not get loose due to when i followed the specs 90ft pound it sheared my key.

could that be the issue?

or can it be a ground goind to the stator and creating a heat due to both shorting? im guessing that could not be because that should short instantly and also not be able to work

i removed the weaken ring on the inside. i filled down the sharp ends. ran the engine for awhile did not really get to hot just warm. did touch the winding around the stator was a little warm also, unless anyone objects this is solved.

thanks

Warm is normal. And yes, the rubbing made the flywheel hotter than normal. I believe you are in the safe zone now.
