Hey guys, I have a 1985 85 hp force outboard, do I mix the oil and the gas before I put it in the fuel tank or can I just pour it all in the fuel tank?

Diesel41, usually what I do is pour the 2 cycle oil in the tank first and then just pump in the correct amount of gas. As you drive to the water it mixes perfectly...

The size of the tanks is different on different boats.
Mine is 100gal.
Some use 6 gal carry on's.

I had the tank go bad and installed a 35gal under the console.
I put in a quart of oil and follow with 12g of fuel.
The I add the next amount of oil usually 1 pint (depending on how empty)then add fuel.
Then I go to 8oz.oil, then fuel.
I don't like dumping all the oil and then adding fuel.
I don't feel that it mixes as well.(my opinion).
I hardly use any more than 21-22 gal a trip.
So I usually und up with a bit more oil than I should.
Better to run richer than not having enough.

If I'm not mistaken, they do make a item that allows you to add fuel while the oil is going in as well. It mixes as you pump the gas in. But adding the oil first and then pumping the gas, I feel confident it mixes properly for my circumstances. So I will continue with my procedures and boat on... Everybody has their own procedures that they think is the better way...obviously! And there is nothing wrong with any method in my opinion, just as long as you don't forget to mix them together... JMHO!
