The pace maker is a bit heavy but not extreme, from the specs I find it weights in around 7K. The 318 has around 150 hp and 250 torque (give or take) about 500 lb, but a very solid engine, To go to a 4bt is 105hp and 265 tq weight 750. the 5,9 is 235hp and 460 tq weight 1150 lb. The big issue will be the increased weight and torque. If you go to the 5.9 you will need a different drive diesel X or XR due to torque increase.

What is your budget and how long do you plan to keep the boat?

The 4BT could be had up to 250hp. The 6B up to 480HP depending on fuel curves.

Do you want to go fast? I'm wondering if a B series Cummins has enough RPM's for speed?
The boat has a stern drive or is it an inboard?
