I'm currently helping a friend get his 2 cyclinder 13 hp yanmar diesel engine(2GMF) in his sail boat going
It's been sitting for 5 years plus he mentioned that another person that previously tried to help accidentally hooked the battery up backwards
but realized it pretty quickly & it was discounted right away
planning on checking out the charging system, fuses, etc...
once I get it running
wondering what else might have been damaged or affected
Going to run some new fuel through it along with an approriate cleaner?
there's no fuel tank so I will be bringing a fresh tank
new fuel filter, oil change & filter, etc...
Do these have a closed cooling system?
he also mentioned some corrision around the water pump area...
Any others out there had experiance with type engine
thoughts, suggestion, recomondations, etc...
