I have a 1994, 4 Stroke, 9.9 Yamaha Outboard Boat Motor Electric Start, Model T9.9ELRS, remote steering/throttle (no control tiller handle) and is a 20" shaft (Long). It's going on my 12' flat jon boat. I want to convert it to a tiller assembly outboard. But, I am new to boats and have no clue where to start. What year and models would work with my motor? I am a welder, and could fabricate a setup to accommodate a tiller that would work electrically, if it's cheaper and functional for my outboard motor. Or is there a way to add a regular tiller handle, and customize the setup to still work and not be expensive? Any good deals or setups you see on the internet would be a great help to me.

Ayuh,.... Best bet would be to sell that motor, 'n find a motor that better fits yer hull/ application,.....

Most every 12' hull I've seen, Requires a 15" motor,... a 20" will run to deep, 'n handle very poorly,....

I'm a welder, and I can make the rear taller due to it being an aluminum boat. I just barely got the motor and I don't really wanna go to the hassle of selling it off. I've been looking around for a part number for the complete handle steering assembly. But I can't seem to find the part number for it. If there's a newer or older model that fits, I would purchase that instead. Thank you for the response. :)

Have you figured this out? I’m looking to do this as well.
