2001 Mercury 9.9 Bigfoot remote control wire question

Recently purchased a boat with this motor on it, 2001 Merc 9.9 Bigfoot 4 stroke. While removing the wiring harnesses from the boat there is a two wire harness that either came unplugged or wasn't plugged in but it's making me crazy. Any idea what this separate 2 wire connector is for or where they connect? The large harness is no problem. Thanks for any input....

Here ya go, pic of the wires in question. From what I've been able to figure out, they're idiot light wires but I'd like to be sure... The connections inside the cowling are buried and I can't see where they hook up...
