trim/tilt pump mounting help

Can a trim/tilt pump be mounted horizontally, or at any angle other than straight up & down ? Will that cause it to leak, or not function properly ?

What brand - Merc, OMC, etc.?

Most have the reservoir on the bottom, so other than upright makes it difficult to fill with juice.

Its a Merc pump, with reservoir on the bottom. There are no leaks in the system, so once its filled once, there should be no need to fill it again, right ? Once filled, will the pump function normally if it is mounted sideways, or flat ??

It would be pretty much impossible to fill the tank so there are no air spacer and the air space is needed for expansion of the fluid.

Why do you want to mount the pump on it's side?
