How do I get this part off?

Boat is getting a makeover but I need to remove this plate fro. Behind the throttle/shifter! I FINALLY got all 3 screw out, now this black plate won't budge. Any suggestions?

Still no luck. I've tried pulling, twisting, heat and beating.

You have put the shift handle ON, moved if full forward, remove the handle and then try again correct?

If so, I have no clue

put handle on, slide into forward.. there should be a tiny hole on the side to shove a small pick in to release the whole thing

Try this, get 3 bolts about 3" long that will screw into the shifter through the bezel plate. Then hit the bolts with a suitable hammer . The bezel is corroded to the neck of the shift unit. Also with a large pair of channel lock pliers try gripping the outside of the bezel and rotate it before installing the bolts. That may break it loose.

Bt Doctur, that was an awesome link! Sadly, after 660 pages It came up short.
I was able to remove the black piece. After the three large screws were removed it just took leverage and time. The black piece is pressed onto the control box then clamped there with the three screws.
