I have a 1981 merc 25 hp that I recently purchased the motor sat for 9 years but after new carb kit spark plugs etc it was running. Last week I got my controls for my throttle and steering so I hooked them up after I applied some penetrating oil and some grease to the gears I no longer have spark and my choke doesn't work either. My next move is to check out if somehow I shorted the kill switch but am having a hard time finding a good you tube video on this type of motor. Any advice would be appreciated!! Be patient with me I bought this boat a month ago and this is a first for me
