Bayliner Capri 2050ss throttle control not fitting

I am having issues with getting a throttle control for my 1994 Bayliner Capri 2050 SS. The old throttle control wasn't working properly so I decided to replace both throttle cable and shift cable and go with a Teleflex sl3 side mount control. Unfortunately the side of the boat is doubled up on wood because of the side design and wont allow me to install the throttle control correctly. It sits way to close the boat and causes it to rub. Has anyone ran into this problem and if so is there any throttle controls that will work for this? I am at a lost on what I can do to make it work or which throttle control will fit.
