Grinding noise when alpha 1 turning

I bought a 1996 sea ray recently with cracked block, swapped out the engine for a reman, finished everything up, took out to the lake and I hear a grinding noise in the outdrive when turning at around 2,000 rpms. Filled the outdrive with oil till it started coming out of the upper hole.

What gives? Bad engine alignment? Not enough oil?

Thanks everyone!

Grinding sounds like gimbal to me, possibly an alignment issue. If it was u joints, it would be more of a clunking/thunking noise.

If you filled it from the bottom untill it came out the top , you should have enough oil in it, So I`d say gimbal bearing, U joints or alignment
