Afternoon everyone,

I have a 1995 Scout SportFish 172 with a rude 115 (originally a Johnson 88).

The other day I put the headphones on to let it run but it wouldn't shift into gear. After a little troubleshooting it seems that the shift cable is slipping in the control box (omc 126481) around the anchor. The throttle cable is fine/

Can anyone shed light on how those cable secure in the control box? im asking first before I poke around and cost myself more money.

Figured it out. The cable anchor has a small keyed insert. That insert is keyed to match the shifter cable. The retaining clip loosened over time and allowed the cable to slip over the key.
