Steering cable pulleys -1957 Thompson

What is a recommended lubricant for my steering cable and pulleys? The cables are coated with plastic.

I use a light oil - 3 in 1 has worked for me. Only the pulley axles need lube.

What do you recommend for control box insides?

I used a very light smear of marine grease.

Is your box stiff? It may be the cables are binding.
