Steering cable coupler nut removal?

I am replacing the steering cable in my 2003 Glastron MX175 and have everything disconnected and as I began to slide the cable out I realized the couple nut at the end of the cable will not fit through the hangers used to suspend the steering cable inside the hull wall. I can reach two of the hangers to unscrew them but there are three more that are not accessible without cutting holes in fiberglass. Is it possible to remove the couple nut from the steering cable so it will pass through the hangers I can't reach? From what I can see, the steering cable had to have been installed before they assembled the outer hull. Im new to boats but mechanically inclined. Ive tried searching for this and everything I read says to just pull the cable through the hull, easy peezy.... If its not removable, I plan to just cut the end off the cable, pass it through and then hang the new cable with the two hangers I can access. Thanks for any help.
