Omc side control issues

Had to change the neutral lever but after I put it all back together it seems as though the idle lever doesn't work right. If u lift the lever it's like there's nothing there until it's almost all the way up. When pushing the lever down sometimes it doesn't idle the motor all the way down. When I had it all apart I put a bunch of grease on there to hopefully make the parts move easier. Not sure if that matters. Any ideas?
