Have a 99 Merc 150 XR6 on Fisher Freedom 2000. Have a console mounted Quicksilver 3000 Controls.

Getting so after shifting into reverse will some times lock up and can not get shift lever forward except with
extreme force.

Shifting forward usually result in the gears ratcheting. Believe the Dog Clutch will not engage fully unless forward shifting is very abrupt and fair amount of throttle forward is required. Had shift cable adjusted last year somewhat better but, now is getting worse again

Suspect all new controls may be needed. Any suggestions on what will fit on the console. Or is there some magic and maybe some lube or adjustment may remedy this poor shifting system

Thank you for the input. Any idea what a shop may charge incl parts and labor. Am in a limited area with only a few quality shops some of which

are known to be very generous on service and labor fees.

its a $30 cable that would take you under an hour to replace and adjust. a shop will charge you $75 or more for the cable and at a minimum between $125 and $175 for the labor

if you need a shop to work on your boat, boating will become expensive
