HYDRAULIC STEERING OPTIONS
Started to think about steering for the Arneson drive today
measured the sealed stainless hydraulic cylinder which has a bore of 51mm OD (figured)/ 46mm ID x 200mm stroke, and a pin diameter of 19mm
phoned around to talk to some of the hydraulic experts,
Had a look at the eaton char lynn website and figured I need to be around 3.5 turns of the wheel lock to lock, which needed a helm pump of 75cm3 (4.5ci), which matches with char lynn # 211-1007-002
not sure whether this is correct, however it seems good starting point
need to also order steering column approx. 3" height
Not sure what others run with hydraulic steering helms, I checked with brother in-law who runs 27' proline and he was 1.75turns lock to lock
My brother runs 25' similar to proline and he has 3.5 turns lock to lock. Both these boats are set up with 250hp yamaha's
Not sure whether inboard style boat
comments please?
