OMC Contrls

Greetings fellow boaters! New to the forum but not to boating, have had some kind of boat for the last 25 years, mostly OMC/Tracker boats. I picked up a 17' Stingray last week and it has an 1980 Evinrude (OMC) 85 HP outboard on it (E85TLCSA) The boar runs well but the control box looks like it's from the 70's and is more than a bit loose. My question is, Will an aftermarket control box work on this or will I need to look for an original one? The cables appear to be working I just want to get rid of the ratty old box.
