I have a 1977 Johnson 85 HP and having problem with throttle on console.

I can put the throttle in forward or reverse and the prop will turn. but when I accelerate the throttle lever I get no response or increase in rpm's. I can manually increase the prop speed with the throttle on the motor. Any ideas would be most helpful. Thanks

Welcome aboard.

I think it's one of two things. Either the throttle cable is broken or the cables are reversed on the motor. Given that you can increase the RPM's with the linkage on the motor, it's probably a broken cable. That's where I would start looking.
