What length steering cable for 16ft Starcraft Supersport?

I bought this boat almost completely stripped (no consoles, no steering gear) and I thought I had hit the jackpot when I found an almost brand new steering cable that my old tenants had left in the garage at my rental. However, I'm pretty sure it's WAY too long because with the motor end located correctly, the other end reaches right to the bow. So now I have to buy a brand new one, and I'm not sure what length I need.

Anyone know?

Since your SS is stripped, the consoles may not end up in the same place as the original location. You should plan where the consoles will be located and measure for that location.

Again with no steering gear, it's cheaper to buy a kit, which includes the helm and cable. Once you have the consoles built and installed, then follow the measuring guide on the bottom of the page to measure for a new steering cable. http://www.iboats.com/Boat-Controls-Steering/dm/cart_id.015895223--session_id.455597048--view_id.8

Wow. That easy. Thanks for the help.

The console should be in the same place as the original, but I'll wait until it is situated before measuring.
