Will 1986 controls work with 1977 motor

I've got a 1986 90 hp Evinrude that has a blown power head. I will possibly buy a 1977 85 hp Johnson to replace it, but i'd like to keep my tilt and trim. Could I have my Evinrude controls and trim motor rigged up to the Johnson?

I am pretty sure the controls will work does it have the red plug on the motor I do not think the T/N/T will work on a 77. I am not sure but I think 78 is the first yr for that style T/N/T
