Just purchased a 1989 Bayliner 18' center console. Starts and runs good but........................I didn't see him run the throttle. It has a single shifter/throttle and I was wondering how does the throttle/shifter work? How does the throttle work without putting boat in gear? Am I overthinking it?

Depends on which model control you have. Most these days have a button in the center on the handle which gets pushed in and allows for throttle only. Others the handle is pulled out slightly to do the same thing. Got a pic?

Went to take a picture and upon closer look found (faded) instructions on shifter. Pulled to the right and got just throttle. Thanks
