yamaha gauges

Hope I'm not loosing my welcome here, but new to the boating and this boat.
2001 Yamaha fuel and tach gauges. Have power to them and the screens are scrambled with the read outs. Wondering is it might be in the wiring? Because of the cost and that they are not completely dead that they might make it. Thanks

I have the same problem got up with my dealer an he said that it was more than likely the gauge if I did not see any naked wires under console
