Have an issue with check engine lite flashing also gauge shows overcharging. When first turning over motor all is fine but within 15 seconds or so the amp gauge climbs to 16V and the alarm sounds. Just finished replacing rectifier as possible cause but that had no effect. Have checked all connects at battery which is a new gel type battery. Any one have any ideals?

The rectifier only changes it from AC to DC, the voltage regulator limits the voltage to around 14.2

I don't know if the that motor has a single rectifier regulator unit, or if they are separate.
