I have a boat that I salvaged and the tach is shot. The mercury control has a plug in the front that has wires going to the tach . I just cant tell what wires to use when I install a new tach or what kind of tach to buy. It look like I would need to buy a mercury tach just so I can connect the wires up to this mercury controller. All the manual says is this is an early controller and no diagram as to what these wires are. Thanks for any help or suggestions for a tach. The wires are black, brown, white, and white with a purple stripe.
