1994 CELEBIRTY 240 FIRST RUN

bought my first boat.took out on river.went about 45 mins up river.turned around headed back to launch.staled out a few times.after slowing down for no wake zones or people fishing.but would start back up a run fine.the last time it staled didn't go so well.put in to gear seemed to be hesitant then stall right out.got towed in.got boat home and now runs fine.any idea of what this problem is??any help would be great.
