Hi, I'm 99% certain that I'll be installing a Raymarine ev-200 for my mechanical steering rig. I know from other guys trolling the same lake that it works well for my needs. The question I can't find an answer to is whether or not this unit requires a chartplotter/GPS link. I've been using Navionics on a Nexus 7 mounted at the helm and it's great, but no NMEA port obviously, and no Bluetooth options that I know of. I'm wondering if I can just use the AP controller to select a heading and adjust as needed without GPS?

I know it seems like a simple question but I can't find the info. I also know that I should just get a new GPS unit, but that'll have to wait until after the $1800 AP purchase.

Thanks!

I just found the same question over on THT, and these can be used without any other electronics on the boat. But I bet they're pretty slick once you can use stored tracks, etc...
